Apartment Review
could have been a nice place
Review Date: 6/3/2008 Reviewer: Anonymous
When we moved in, the management and office staff were nice, courteous, and seemed to really care that we were happy. We've been good tenants, rent is always paid on time, no noise complaints, etc. We pretty much keep to ourselves and keep an eye on the complex. There had been some shifts in the office with management and I guess other things, but this place is complete shit now. Excuse my language, but it's the truth. For the rent you pay, you could live somewhere a lot nicer and newer in Port Orange or Ormond Beach. I'm sure there are other places in Daytona even that are better. Our building has had those little pesky sugar ants living and nesting in the walls. I understand it's Florida, but something can be done about them. The management never relays our problems to the pest control guy, not like he's a help either. He sprays two places in the living room, and when we asked him about the walls he put the same poison out that we got in the store. It took them over a month to address a hot water heater issue we had. Very unprofessional. The maintainance man laughed at me. I guess because I'm female there's NO way I know how a hot water heater works. Oh well, jokes on them, all it needed was a $12 heating element, instead they replaced the whole water heater. These buildings are falling apart. Steps are rotting away. Don't try climbing the steps after a heavy rain, you'll fall. Our building's wiring is old and will probably cause a fire someday. The light above our bar only stays on for at most 30 minutes, then shorts out. The bathroom light flickers and sometimes goes out while you're in the shower. Pipes rattle. We've had problems with the dishwasher, too. We've given up complaining, apparently we're just a nuisance to them now anyway. On one side you have Wedgewood... or should I say Wedge-hood. We hear gunshots from there every now and then, but it's loud so you have no idea where they're coming from. When I moved in, the management here seemed concerned about who they leased their apartments to. Now, it seems as though they let anyone in. Or they don't care if people just stay there not being put on the lease, which is where all the riff raff is coming from. We get notices sometimes about dog poop not being cleaned up, yet when they had someone bring a Pit Bull in and leave it tied to a tree growling and snapping and people that was okay. And since they're having problems filling the apartments, they're trying to play games with me vacating my apartment even though my lease is up. My advice, stay away. Look for something not right behind the mall because from what I've heard it's all pretty crummy back here. At least pick something that's not The Harbor. It's not worth the headache. |
